The Song — Bonnie Raitt

• The title has a double meaning Raitt was intentional about: "Nick," as in just in the nick of time, and also the wear and tear of time and the nicks it leaves on the body and spirit.

• The second verse about aging parents was sparked by watching her father sleep in the car during a road trip — seeing him in a vulnerable state made her feel the weight of time in a new way.

• There were no hand drums in the studio, so drummer Ricky Fataar miked a burlap sandbag used to hold down mic stands and played the heartbeat pulse with his hands — Raitt wanted a feel similar to Marvin Gaye's "I Heard It Through the Grapevine."

• Prince was a fan and invited Raitt to join his Paisley Park label. She agreed and traveled to Minneapolis, but then suffered a ski accident and spent two months in the hospital — which gave her time to get sober and eventually led to the Capitol Records deal and the Nick of Time album.

• The song was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2015.

• The album broke the record at the time for longest gap between an artist's first charting album and their first #1 — 17.5 years, from Give It Up in 1972 to Nick of Time hitting #1 in April 1990.

• LSD filmed their cover on the exact same Boston sidewalk where they recorded their viral Jackson 5 "I Want You Back" video in 2012 — released exactly 10 years later as a deliberate anniversary callback.

• The cover served as the lead single from their EP Fun Machine: The Sequel, their second covers collection.

• They later performed it live with Devon Gilfillian sharing lead vocals with Rachael Price at a backyard show in Nashville filmed by Paste Magazine.
